We had a lovely time at today’s Reading in the Park! Mr. Tim Harmon, a City of Jerseyville Volunteer Firefighter and Principal at Marquette High School read Clifford the Firedog. Then he taught us a little about fire safety. We made Clifford wind socks with the Jersey County Arts Council, had a snack, took pictures with Clifford the Big Red Dog from the Jerseyville Public Library, and took a book home. Thank you to everyone involved! It was a great day!

Attention! Reading in the Park update! Due to poor air quality, the June 28th Reading in the Park has been moved to the Jersey Community Middle School Library. Please park on the east side of the school and use the east doors. All students are invited to join us for reading, snacks, and crafts today at 10:30 am. We hope to see you there!

Savannah Hetzel volunteered her time today to help JCMS students learn to crochet. The students were awed by Savannah’s skills and everyone was excited to learn. Thank you Savannah for helping out with the JCMS summer enrichment program. One of the best students today was Mr. Strauch. He almost had an afghan by the end of the day.

We had a wonderful crowd at Reading in the Park today! A big thank you to our guest readers, Mayor Kevin Stork and Sheriff Nick Manns. Curious George from the Jerseyville Public Library came for a visit, and the Jersey County Arts Council helped us create some spectacular self-portraits, complete with mustaches. Join us next week in Fieldon!

We send a BIG thank you to everyone who helped, and we can’t wait to see everyone next week!

JCMS would like to extend a big thank you to OMNI Energy Partners for their partnership in the 2022-2023 school year. The leadership at OMNI is passionate about collaborating with schools and creating learning experiences for students. This last school year they partnered with our after school program bringing a lesson on the design process in a spaghetti tower completion. They also partnered with our 6th grade STEM program, challenging students to work in groups and create a solar pizza oven. They provided materials, prizes, and a Kona Ice truck as a treat. Both of these experiences were exceptional opportunities for our students!

JCHS Design Students crocheted hula hoops that were connected to form a canopy that hangs over George's Local Brew. This is a third year tradition thanks to the cooperation of Chris Lorton and these skilled and dedicated students!
