Students in Ms. Herkert’s 5th grade Math class had to solve a word problem in three different ways. Each student in the group chose a different way to solve the problem. Students used methods such as writing an equation, using a number line, tape diagram, area model, place value chart, and number bonds. It was a great way to show there isn’t always one way to solve a problem.

Grafton's First graders read the book Pumpkin Jack written and illustrated by Will Hubbell. Now we have our own pumpkin and we are going to do a science experiment. We are going to see if our pumpkin rots like Pumpkin Jack and if a new pumpkin plant will grow! This will take months but we will make observations along the way. We can't wait to see it change!
