Do you want to know what a typical day in JCHS Fine Arts and Career/Technical Education classes looks like? It is mess, loud, busy, practical, organized chaos with career exploration and hands on applications. The content might have changed since you were in high school but the change is for the better! In CTE classes, students are learning to find their niche and build a career from the passions. But it is more than that, so much more! There is an over abundance of problem-solving, character development, collaboration unfolding too. These students display so much pride and confidence everyday. These classes are for students planning to attend college, trade school, military bound, going right into the work force... and the undecided. It is not just something they look forward to in their day or an incentive to pass their core classes- It is an opening to doors they did not know existed.
When Mrs. Heitzig took the pictures below today. She just popped in unannounced, and snapped a few quick pictures. It did not need to be planned because these activities happen daily.
Today was a SUPER exciting day at West Elementary!!! Students got to tour our brand new "Cafetorium." We have more student tours tomorrow and students will be using the facility starting Thursday! Stay tuned for more pics tomorrow!

First grade students love coding on Valentines day. The excitement in the room was contagious.
The students in Mrs. Duggan's classroom exceeded all expectations today when they programmed their robots.
The students were able to write up to 4 different lines of code. Many of the groups learned about decimals for the first time because they needed their robot to go less than 2 seconds but more than 1 second. One student suggested try 1.5. Then the students were ready for the next challenge and added angles to their code. The students used a protractor to code angles from 0-360 degrees. The math applied to program the robots was outstanding. Best of all the students used trial and error to keep their robot on track. #lovemath #loveStem #GoJerseyPanthers
HUGE congrats to our Poms Dance Team who placed 2nd in Hip Hop and 3rd in Kick at State over the weekend! Way to go girls!!
