Congratulations to this month's Character Award winners at Grafton: Ilah Reynolds, Lillian Brackett, Autumn Weber, Mason Roemer, and Sophia Robles!
And what better way to welcome winter break than with a paper snowball fight as a reward for good behavior!

First grade celebrated their holiday party with classroom rotations where they played Bingo, did an I Spy challenge, played fun games, was challenged by a computer Christmas Kahoot and had a Christmas song dance party!!

On Thursday, December 21st the Saint Francis Knights of Jerseyville played the JCMS Panthers at JCHS in the annual game between the two in town schools.
This year, they competed on the court like any other year; but teamed up for a great cause off the court.
Spectators were asked to bring in canned or boxed items for the Food Pantry for entry as well as the opportunity to make a kind donation to the Salvation Army RED KETTLE. JCHS Boys Basketball players were bell ringers for the event.
Together, several hundred pounds of food was donated and the attendees were rewarded with a very well played game between the two schools which have many long lasting friendships shared between them, including the coaches Scott Burney (JCMS) and Toni Goetten (Saint Francis).
The Panthers won this time 38-22. The two teams will meet again in the JCHS Tournament the week of Jan 8-12th.
Thanks to all that took part and helped to make this event a fun night and a huge success benefiting underprivileged people in our community.
A Special thanks to Richard Lott from the Salvation Army for providing us with needed items for the event.
Attached is a picture of a couple of the representatives and close friends from each team.

These are some of the JCHS MASTERS OF THE CONSTITUTION. These senior Government students (along with two others who couldn't make it) had the highest scores on the Constitution Exam and/or Final. This exam measures a knowledge of the history behind the U.S. Constitution, the spirit of the document and the details within the document. Hat's-off to these members of the Class of 2024!

7th and 8th grade JCMS Panthers both took home a win against their fellow hometown boys basketball team, St. Francis.

Mrs. Goetten, Mrs. Spencer and Mrs. William's classes did a great job building and decorating gingerbread houses this week.

Brayden Cox (left) and Chevi Howell (right) are in Mr. Shipley's Computer Hardware/OS and Game Design classes at JCHS. These students were given the full experience and knowledge of building a PC from start to finish. Over three nights after school, the students created a custom gaming PC that even includes a built-in touch screen monitor. Brayden and Chevi hope to build their own computers soon. Way to go guys and game on!

There's room for everyone at West on the nice list!

JCHS wants to extend a BIG thank you to the Yagan Family Foundation for supporting the JCHS Maker Space and our Woods Program. The Maker Space at JCHS is a place for all students and staff to design, explore and build projects and the CTE Woods/Construction offerings afford students a hands on, real world experience that is invaluable. The donated funds are very special and will impact so many students. We are truly blessed and appreciative of the special gift.

To celebrate the holiday season, the JCHS Spanish department participated in holiday traditions from multiple Spanish-speaking countries. These traditions were the Tio de Nadal (a gift-giving tradition from parts of Spain), La Noche de los Rábanos (Radish carving competition from Oaxaca, Mexico), and piñatas (tradition from multiple countries). Students enjoyed learning about traditions that were unique from their own!
