A huge congratulations to Merris McDuffie for spending her week in Peoria representing Jersey 100 by making State and performing in the All-State Jazz Band on Jazz Piano. She was one of five jazz piano players to be selected for State. Merris left for State on Wednesday and performed at the ILMEA Jazz Concert on Friday at 7:30 pm at the Peoria Civic Center Auditorium. The JCHS Band, Band Boosters and the whole Jersey 100 community could not be more proud of you!

Mrs. Warren's 6th-grade social studies classes embarked on an engaging exploration of Ancient Egypt, immersing themselves in the rich tapestry of its history and culture. The culmination of their studies took the form of a captivating museum exhibit proudly displayed in JCMS's library. Tasked with the exciting challenge of showcasing their newfound knowledge, students were given the freedom to choose their preferred project type. The innovative Makerspace at JCMS became a hub of creativity as students crafted various projects. This interdisciplinary approach not only deepened the students' understanding of Ancient Egypt but also showcased the power of hands-on learning in the modern educational landscape.

The Virtual Backpack is a convenient way to provide parents and students with important information and materials that would traditionally be sent home in a physical backpack. By hosting electronic versions of flyers, notes, and resources on the Jersey 100 website, parents and students can easily access and refer to these materials without the need for physical papers.
The organization of folders for each school allows parents and students to find the relevant information for their specific school quickly. Given that this is a new initiative, we will be adding information gradually as the school year progresses.
Check out the Virtual Backpack at https://www.jersey100.org/page/virtual-backpack

Due to current weather and road conditions, including icing, localized flooding, and fog, there will be no school today, Tuesday, January 23rd.
We expect conditions to get better throughout the day and this will give road commissioners an opportunity to improve the outlying road conditions for our 54 school bus routes. This will also give our maintenance crews the necessary time to prepare parking lots and sidewalks for the safe return of staff and students tomorrow.
We will continue to analyze all extra curricular activities, including practices and games, and will communicate potential cancellations or changes by 12:00 pm. Please check the Remind App and social media postings for further communication from coaches and sponsors.
Please stay safe and warm.
