Hour of Code was a success at East Elementary. The second grade students even coded Botley, Sphero and Dash&Dot robots. Second, Third, and Fourth grade students all learned a lot. Check out the Google project to animate a name in this picture. If your child attends East please ask them about what they did to program a computer this week.
East Elementary students participated in the hour of code this week. The students used their problem solving, math and reading skills to do basic computer programming. Many of the students completed the challenges and did not give up until their code worked.
The fourth grade students not only coded this week, but also got to learn all about what a software Engineer does. Mr. Matthew Shoemaker a software engineer at Boeing spoke to the fourth grade students about his job programming flight simulators. He said he uses a lot of different languages to program computers and that math is an essential part of his job. Thank Mr. Shoemaker for inspiring us to be software engineers.
