The West Elementary Back to School continues!!!! Mrs. Becca Leslie, first grade educator at West Elementary, shares some thoughts on going back to school.
“I have always loved the beginning of the school year! Students are bright-eyed and ready to learn. Teachers are rested and excited to meet their classes. Kids can’t wait to use their new school supplies and teachers are prepared, full of new ideas and lessons. The wonderful smell of freshly scrubbed floors, opened book pages, and cafeteria food wafts through the air. The anticipation can truly be felt. What an exhilarating time!
This year is even more exciting for me as I begin a new adventure in my teaching career. After teaching 7th grade Language Arts for 10 years, and being a middle school teacher/librarian for 5 years, I am blessed to “get back to my roots”— to my love for the littles— as a 1st grade teacher. From the time I was a young girl, I always envisioned myself teaching kindergarten or 1st grade, and that was my original reason for going into education. I am so happy, proud, and fortunate to be a new teacher at Jerseyville West Elementary!”
